The transgender lead singer of The Cliks, a Toronto-based alternative rock band won the Throw Your Underwear Award Male (Sexiest Canadaian Man) in a poll conducted by Chart Attack, a Canadian music magazine.

Lucas Silveira won the award beating Avril Lavign's ex, Deryck Whibley by more than a thousand votes. It was a close vote for a while with Whibley talking the lead briefly before falling behind Sliveira.

Silveira is open about being a trans man. He has had top surgery but does not take testosterone because it would affect his singing voice.

He said in an interview with Kathy Belge of About.com, "Not only am I a voice for the trans community... but there are guys like me. We're the guys who are truly in the middle... I feel very comfortable being where I am right now."
